Personal Biography

Mohammad Hasan Habib, Barrister of Lincoln’s Inn, practicing in Bangladesh as an Advocate of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh, and currently working as the Principal Associate of A.S & Associates. Prior to joining A.S & Associates, Mr. Habib has worked for Tanjib Alam & Associates for a number of years and was involved in advising various leading corporate entities like Grameenphone, Airtel Bangladesh, Citibank N.A., AK Khan & Company, Bangladesh Cricket Board, AkzoNobel, Sanofi Aventis, Abul Khair Tobacco Co. Ltd. etc. relating to commercial contracts including lease and conveyancing, commercial litigation, loan documentation and corresponding security documents, government and Procurement Contracts including FIDIC contracts and regulatory matters including issues related to non-profit and charitable organizations.   Mr. Habib has worked for national and international non-profit/charitable organizations and has acted as the primary in-house counsel of a non-profit organization and was principally involved in advising the management on critical employment/HR, financial and procurement issues having legal and audit implications. He was also responsible for leading the legal affairs department in processing grants, sub-grants, collaboration agreements, MoUs, and other institutional documents.   As practitioner in Bangladesh jurisdiction for a decade, he has assisted different national and international organizations, including ICDDR,B, Water.Org, MSF, Terre Des Hommes, Mott Macdonald, Coca-Cola Bangladesh Beverages Limited, Globalization Partner, Omnipresent, Shimizu Corporation, MN Inter-Fashion Ltd., NJS Consultant Ltd., Medtronic, Christian Aid, with setting up of their internal legal departments, setting up local office, Department of Regulatory Affairs, initiating their Provident Funds, drafting and implementation of various policies & procedures of such organizations (Staff Rules, Code of Conduct, Procurement Manual, Grievance & Non-compliance Event Policies etc.) and advising senior management of these entities with strategic legal, financial, HR and other organizational issues. He has the experience of acting as the member of various internal committees of the client organizations, including in the Disciplinary Committee, Prevention of Sexual Harassment Committee, Grievance Management Committee, Independent Investigation Committee relating to non-complaince etc.  Mr. Habib has commendable experience in litigation and dispute resolution procedures and representing clients in commercial, energy and real estate arbitration. He has acted as the lead counsel in representing clients in judicial review proceedings, company affairs and played pivotal role in settling cases out of court. As a practitioner of alternative dispute resolution procedure, Mr. Habib also has the experience of representing clients in negotiation and dispute resolutions proceedings particularly arbitration.   He has completed his legal studies from the University of London in 2006 and was called to the Bar of England and Welsh by Lincoln’s Inn of UK. He has also completed his PGDL, LLM from various universities of UK.
