Habib Rahaman

Mr. Habibur Rahaman is enrolled as an Advocate of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh. Mr. Rahaman joined A.S & Associates in 2017 and currently acting as a Senior Associate of the Firm. Mr. Rahaman’s main practice areas include Corporate Advisory including restructuring and M&A, Corporate Financing, Commercial Disputes, Company Matter related Disputes, Data Protection and Privacy Law, Foreign Direct Investment and Power & Energy.

Mr. Rahaman acted as team leader of the Firmin advising both local and MNCsclients on wide range of matters including large scale cross-border acquisition and divestment dealsin the chemical;hospitals; super shop chain; telecom;power;pharmaceutical;RMG manufacturing; general industrial and service sectors. Mr. Rahaman also regularly advices clients on issues related to foreign lending in Bangladesh; advising on setting up power projects in Bangladesh by foreign IPPs; advising on various contracts for mega construction projects; large scale corporate/projectfinancing by foreign and local lenders; regulatory assessment of various unique products & services for introducing in the market of Bangladesh; FDI in Bangladesh; investment in Export Processing Zone (EPZ) and Economic Zone (EZ) both by local and foreign investor including advising INGOs in setting up their operation in Bangladesh. Mr. Rahaman represents clients as legal counsel before the High Court Division of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh on commercial and company matter related disputes.

Mr. Rahaman has the experience of assisting the lead counsel for the legislative reform and process improvisation for improving Ease of Doing Business Ranking of Bangladesh, as part of which he was involved with reviewing multiple legislative instruments and processes, across 10 areas of World Bank Group’s EoDB Index for the country ranking, including improvisation of processes related to Company Incorporation, Obtaining Trade License and other permits, utility connections, streamlining process related to trading across the border and reviewing of proposed secured transaction laws for improving access to credit.

Mr. Rahaman has an LL.B. (Hons) degree from the University of London (2016). He was enrolled as an Advocate by the Bangladesh Bar Council (2018) and permitted to practice before the High Court Division of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh (2022).
